Avenir Enfance Sahel (AV.E.S)
This Malian non-governmental organisation (NGO) was created by a former staff member of Save the Children UK and specialises in the promotion and the protection of the rights of the child.
AV.E.S has a coordination office based in Bamako and an operational team based in Mopti. Its activities aim to reduce the migration of young girls from rural areas to protect them from the risks of exploitation to which they would be exposed in town, particularly sexual exploitation.
Their activities include education (literacy, citizenship, health, particularly reproductive health, schooling), vocational training in the form of workshops (dying, soap making, market gardening) and support to income generating activities set up by the girls.
AV.ES has taken part in a certain number of studies and research, notably those in the field of the sexual exploitation of children and the situation of young migrant girls in Mali financed by UNICEF.
